haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

Happy May!

I hope you are all having a wonderful May so far.

Synopsis:

The Manipulator

I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.
I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.
But my words don’t affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave.
He’s always there, watching and waiting.
And I can never look away.
Not when I want him to come closer.

The Shadow

I didn’t mean to fall in love.
But now that I have, I can’t stay away.
I’m mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.
The way she undresses…
I’ll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine.
And once she is, I’ll never let her go.
Not even when she begs me to.

While not required, it is highly suggested to read the novella, Satan’s Affair, first.

My Thoughts:

Where to start… well quite honestly I have no idea where to start with this one. Other than the fact I have been meaning to write this review for what feels like forever. So bare with me.

Hold on tight, strap yourselves in because this is not an easy journey.

Should we have enjoyed this book… NO. Should we have liked morally grey characters in this book… also NO. Did we anyway find ourselves unable to put the book down, incredibly invested and mildly concerned about our brains? ABSOLUTELY.

A MASSIVE DISCLAIMER FROM ME BEFORE I get into it I have got to tell you this is mentioned that it is an 18+. However, I am 100% certain it should be 21+. It is a dark romance but oh hell does it cover some very graphic and triggering subjects. I am almost tempted to say unless you have read your fair share of 18+ dark romances.

Don’t read this one as your first one!

You have been warned!

Haunting Adeline is incredibly graphic and although I really enjoyed reading this book it is incredibly important to note I do not condone any of the actions that occur within this book.

Now we have got all the disclaimers out in one large paragraph.

STRAP YOURSELF IN. Grab a tea and get ready for the chaos that is this review.

I once again need to make it very clear that this book is very much like Marmite. You will either like it or hate it. You will find great comfort in knowing this is a work of fiction. There however is no in between.

In terms of characters our dearest Adeline is someone that I knew I would end up liking instantly. However I was expecting to find something I didn’t like. Her life choices are just nothing short of questionable but oh hell.

And then there is Zade, this man had me in a whole twist of emotions. I don’t think that I have ever been so conflicted about a main character before. He has such complex emotions within his self that I don’t know if we will ever make up our minds on how it we feel.

I am in need to read the sequel but I think it will be another binge read so we will need to wait until we have the time.

Star Rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

It is safe to say we questioned more than just our sanity reading this one. Have you read Haunting Adeline? What did you think?

Love Always,

Gee xoxo
