Welcome to the New Chapter of All Things Gee

Dearest… well, you,

Guess who’s back? Oh wait, that would be me.

If you’ve been around All Things Gee for a while, you’ll know that I’ve written many book reviews. You may also have seen random posts and a little bit of everything in between. I started (and restarted) this blog several times. Each time, I found myself stuck. I wanted to write but didn’t know what to write. What could never be denied though was the calling to write in some form. I was never quite satisfied with the appearance or sound of things. I also ran out of space and time constantly, making it hard to keep a regular schedule.

Over the past year, I thought a lot about what to do with this blog. I questioned whether I wanted to keep it. I spoke to anyone who would listen. I craved change but was also clinging to the comfort of the familiar. Then 2025 rolled around, and I figured I’d give it one more try. I wrote a couple of book reviews, typed out multiple posts… and then? Nothing. We stopped. Again.

Frustrated is the only word that fits. The urge to write had never been stronger, but it came hand-in-hand with feeling stuck and not good enough. I had decided at this point that All Things Gee would stop and end right there. The last post was scheduled to go live on the 11th of April.

Then April arrived — and with it, something unexpected.

On a trip to Brighton, a woman told me something strange but deeply moving. She said she felt I needed to know that someone was proud of me. That I shouldn’t be so afraid of the unknown because everything would work out for a reason. As cheesy and far-fetched as that might sound, writing it now still gives me chills. Because it triggered something.

I came home and started playing around with new logos and rethinking All Things Gee. I spent hours deciding which niche to focus on. Then I realised: this blog was never meant to fit neatly into one box. It’s my safe space for all the things I love. No matter how I try, they just don’t fit into a single category.

Right around that time, I received a pre-release copy of Gaslight by Holly Dixon. For those who don’t know, Holly has long been one of my favourite humans. Once I picked up her book, I knew it deserved more than just a Goodreads review. Gaslight needed its own little home right here — in my safe space. In many ways, Holly gave me the push I needed to start again.

Hey, welcome back! I cannot wait to get stuck into it all over again.

So, the short version? I turn 27 in just over a month, and I’ve got a lot I want to say. And to say it, All Things Gee needs to exist.

So here we are — after many meltdowns, restarts, and reconsideration — still standing. And staying.

Here’s what you can expect moving forward:

  • Book reviews, thoughts, and musings — because books will always be one of my first loves.
  • Theatre reviews — because theatre (and the arts in general) will forever hold a special place in my heart. Maybe more on that another day.
  • Life updates — because, as Bridget Jones recently reminded me, it’s not enough just to survive. We have to live. Consider this a journal of sorts.
  • All Things Gee — the weird, the wonderful, and everything in between.

I guess what I’m trying to say is: welcome to the new chapter of All Things Gee.

To those who’ve been here a while: how have you been? Thank you for sticking around.
And to those who are new: welcome — it’s such a pleasure to meet you. Stick around… you never know what this chapter might bring.

Love always,
Gee xoxo
