Dearest well… You,
We seem to be on track for a winner. She says this after only her third post back. But what a post it is. The wonderful Dave at The Write Reads had me basically bouncing off the walls. I was thrilled to receive an arc copy of this book. I knew instantly it was a must-read. It was going onto my list as soon as it arrives at the door. This is exactly what happened.

In a dying world overrun by microdrones, humanity’s last survivors cling to life inside the Eden-17 biodome. With the help of Madders, an enigmatic AI built from the memories of a brilliant physicist, Isabelle sends Diego Nadales—the love of her life—35 years into the past. His mission? To change the course of history and prevent their world’s collapse.
When Diego arrives in the vibrant yet fragile Main Timeline, he’s forced to confront ghosts of the past, including a younger, ambitious version of Isabelle. As he battles to shape a better future, Diego must navigate a delicate web of relationships and events without destroying the very fabric of time.

My Thoughts:
Initial Reaction:
What a wild, brutal, brilliant ride!
Hive flung me into a fractured world full of high-tech heartbreak, impossible choices, and emotional gut-punches—and I couldn’t get enough.
It’s one of my favourite Sci-Fi books I have read in a long time. It’s all the things I love from shows like Flash, Loki with a healthy dash of The Time Traveler’s Wife and a side of post-apocalyptic chaos. I was hooked from page one.
Once I started it I just could not put it down, and in all honesty I did not want to. If you love books that mess with time, bend reality, and punch you in the feels while doing it, this is one you cannot miss.

What I Loved:
🌀 Time Travel with a Twist – This isn’t your run-of-the-mill quantum leap. One person holds the power to jump timelines and alter humanity’s fate… but what happens when they run into the younger version of the love of their life? Goosebumps.
🚀 High-Stakes Tech Meets Deep Humanity – Advanced tech presents ethical dilemmas. These issues are haunting, especially in a crumbling world. They are thought-provoking. This book practically begs to be discussed at a book club (or over wine with fellow sci-fi nerds,I mean if anyone wants to organise this count me in and signed up.).
📖 Creative Narrative Structure – The rotating perspectives and entries from the AI’s logs added so much texture. Shifting emotional lenses made the complex story surprisingly easy to follow—and impossible to stop reading.
💔 Emotionally Gripping – This book doesn’t just bend time—it punches you in the heart while doing it. You’ll root for so many characters its hard to keep up with who we love the most. While questioning everything you thought you knew about love, loss, and sacrifice.
Favorite Quote:
‘Whether you’re a seasoned time-traveller or a first-time adventurer, the multiverse is calling and the ride promises to be wild!’”
Yes, D.L. Orton. YES IT DOES.
Final Thoughts:
Hive isn’t just smart sci-fi—it’s deeply human. It balances edge-of-your-seat suspense. It delivers heart-wrenching emotion. All the while, it asks the big questions about fate, choice, and the cost of change. It’s easily one of my Best Reads of 2025. Two five stars in a row… I am truly being spoilt.
Would I recommend this book. Every single time! Without hesitation. You have to read this if you’re into time travel. It also appeals to those who love parallel universes, messy love stories, and post-apocalyptic survival. The characters feel realer than real. However, if you are like me and you like to binge read, you may want to take your time. Slowing down might enhance your experience.
