Dearest Well You,
Apparently we’re six days into Blogtober and I haven’t dedicated an entire post to theatre yet…
Honestly, I’m impressed I lasted this long.
There is something about going to the theatre in autumn that I absolutely love.
Leaving work when it’s getting dark, walking through London with all the theatre signs glowing, grabbing some food beforehand and then disappearing into another world for a couple of hours?
Sign me up.
So, in honour of what I’m officially declaring Theatre Girl Autumn, here are a few shows currently sitting VERY high on my wishlist…
🪲 Beetlejuice🪲
Starting strong with possibly the most Blogtober-appropriate show imaginable.
It’s spooky. It’s ridiculous. It’s theatrical.
And it’s Beetlejuice.
Seeing this during October just feels right.
This is the one where I want to fully commit to the occasion, having been very lucky to see this once already, I would like to see it once more before it closes. As a film to stage show goes this one might be up there with one of my favourites.

đź‘ The Devil Wears Pradađź‘
Technically this is less autumn witch and more autumn woman strutting through London like she has somewhere extremely important to be.
And I’m equally here for that.
Fashion, big musical numbers and The Devil Wears Prada on stage?
Sometimes theatre doesn’t need to be serious.
Sometimes I just want to sit down, have a drink and be thoroughly entertained. I will also note here… I have been to see this one but I think there’s something about this one that is a little special because just like the movie it sparks a little creativity and a wonderful feeling.

🕯️ The Phantom of the Opera🕯️
I know.
A classic. And my favourite theatre shows of all time, I have seen it multiple times and will happily go time and time again.
But this year feels like a particularly good excuse to go back because Phantom is celebrating 40 years in the West End.
And if we’re talking about Theatre Girl Autumn…
A gothic theatre.
Candles.
Drama.
That score.
A man dramatically lurking beneath an opera house.
Peak October behaviour, really.

🎸 RENT🎸
And finally, one of the autumn arrivals I’m particularly curious about: RENT is coming back to London.
This is one of those musicals that feels like such a huge part of theatre history that getting the opportunity to experience it live feels a little bit special.
And I already know I’ll probably leave emotionally compromised.
So naturally…
I want tickets.

🎠Consider Theatre Girl Autumn Officially Open
Realistically, am I going to see every show on this list?
Probably not.
My bank account has entered the chat and saving for future plans said girl you need to think logically here.
But that’s half the fun of having a theatre wishlist.
There’ll be last-minute tickets.
Shows I suddenly become obsessed with. We know I love a good obsession.
Things I see purely because somebody says “Fancy going?”
And probably at least one show that wasn’t even on this list.
That’s one of my favourite things about living close enough to London to have the West End sitting there waiting.
So give me the chilly evenings.
Give me the programmes I absolutely don’t need but will inevitably buy anyway.
Now I just need to decide which one I’m booking first…
Love Always,
Gee
xoxo
